The Daryl Millard Gallery announces the opening of Islands in the Sun, an exhibition of original tropical island landscape paintings by Daryl Millard.

May 29, 2004--Best known for painting the Hawaiian Islands, Millard's artwork evokes a certain kind of nostalgia, a sense of old Hawaii prior to the construction of high rise hotels and themed resorts that now dots the beachfronts of so many popular locations.

Millard having just returned from a painting trip to Polynesia will expand this year's show to include landscapes from several south pacific islands such as Tahiti and Moorea. Mastering the early California Plein Air style of painting, he has successfully adapted this impressionistic style to capture the beauty and serenity of these exotic locales.

Recognized as a superb colorist, Millard says of his work, "One of my primary objectives is to capture the unique light of the location I am painting. Color, harmony and careful composition create emotionally uplifting paintings."

The Daryl Millard Gallery is located at 342 South Cedros Avenue, Solana Beach, California, and is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 A.M. to 5 P.M. and closed Monday.
